On a serious note... Being a man I didn't have any clue how common things like that really are, until I started asking. If you ask women you know very well, _every one_ will be able to tell you stories not only about men coming up to cop a feel, but about narrow escapes from would-be rapists and stalkers. Finding this out was a real eye-opener for me, and not a pleasant one.

Few things. I game for alot of years. (3 Euro cup golds in UT etc).
I don't have a clue why male plays female character if not really necessery for some proffession like in D2, but ok that's ok.
But girls in disguise is bullshit. I knew so many girl gamers that didn't play as male and they were never molested in any way.
Whole life I hear by some shitheads that girls are this girls are that... and what you see? Females raising above rest and arguining over that... but what you see THEN? Girls pretending to be male, what's the point?!! -.-
Get real, 'cos I bet if I said smtn against females I'd have few on my neck right now, so don't pretend you're not the one. xD

"OMG there's MMO wammo character standing next to my female ranger :-((("
Wtf...

Personally, I chose my female necro because male ones look just sick, especially in the Scar pattern armor, and my female mesmer because male mesmers look pathetic and kinda gay.

I was about to say something to cRaZy, but I've already filled my mod-warning quota for the week, so I'll just say that I hope he's as young as he sounds, and will learn as he gets older.

That's the main reason I have 4 female characters and 1 male.
I personally like the look of the male necro, and just can't stand the female necro hairsyles (mostly). I prefer female warrior becuase she doesn't look like a blundering buffoon like the male warriors do most of the time. Female elementalist, because males ones just look, weird, and run kinda funny. I could have gone either way with my monk, but I chose female due to there being better choices, and becuase I already had mostly female characters (also I wanted her to be the "oposite" of my necro and so gender was included in that). For my ranger, I had to split hairs, it was too hard to decide. I ended up chosing female because they have better looking options and I already had 1 male and 3 female characters at that point.
So yea, mostly gender choice is based on which the person thinks looks best. Just like armor and weapon skins, it has no effect on your character in PvE or PvP fights.

This sort of in-game behavior can be funny, but it's also disturbing. The underlying psychology indicates a callous lack of respect -- though that's nothing new on the anonymous web, is it?
It's not as if it's reportable; I doubt ANet will ban someone for dirty dancing on my toon.
As a father of three lovely young women, I find it disturbing how many adult women I know who have been abused, molested, or even raped. And it's a nice quiet crime no one seems to talk about.
As for Crazy (I don't do "leet", or whatever his name is written in): It isn't a "wammo standing" that we're talking about. It's when I sit my character down, and some Wammo walks up, sticks his crotch in my toon's face, and starts his hip-grinding dance. And when I move away, he chases me with crude language until I'm forced to find another zone.
The problem is not isolated to my female character (I do play males, BTW). My wife and daughters have had the same things happen to their female toons. Well, except the monk; for some reason, no one sexually harasses my eldest daughter's tiny, bald, black monk. But then again, as a monk, she puts up with other rude behaviors, so I guess it all balances out.

I dont do it with a wammo, but when i had scar patterns on my necro, id run up to all my guildmates (the bastards that dont play anymore), especially my girlfreind's (shes not a bastard...) mesmer and do the necro dance. They always ran away with the sheer nakedness and breif-ness of my necro . It was funny.
But as for whammoing, i think its just a lot of 12-14 year olds that have seen a porn or two and cant get any. /danceing is more fun in my opinion during a dance-off on a stage in Kaineng, or LA. Not for being like that. So annoying.

Lies! I have seen him, countless times tell Cynn (The Female Mage Henchman) to shut up several times during quests and mission. Even so in Divine Path (The Explorabe Area After You Defeat Shiro). If he is this self proclaimed "Mack Daddy" he has alot of work to do.

I am kind of insulted. I play a Wart(W/Rt) And used to play a wammo. I never did anything like what ChaoticCoyote is talking about. Maybe that's because I was brought up right, with values, or because I am a nice person. And not every player who is 14 is a total pervert that humps pixels the first time he get's 'aroused' in game.

Before Factions came out I use to be a Desert Runner with my male Warrior.
One day I was advertising to do a full Desert run for 10k and found 2 girls in the same guild wanted the run, but they insisted that I had to do the run naked! I did it, it was a blast They complimented me on my manly thighs and butt the entire time. Gamer girls FTW!

You hit the nail on the head there - that's the reason I choose one gender over another - purely aesthetic... The male mesmers just look stupid, at least the female ones have some nice clothes - all the male mesmer clothes are just a bit...well...gay!

Damn straight!
But of course, all this goes to show is that maturity is like anything else and cannot be judged accurately based on age. General trends there may be, but exceptions naturally abound. I blame the whole sorry state of affairs on the Lewd Monocle surplus, myself. Not that I'm expecting too many of you to have played Star Control II. But I was amused by the reference, so that justifies it.
<----is 15.
And of course, all this is, is further incontrovertible evidence to John Gabriel's Greater Internet F*ckwad Theory.

I have 3 female and 3 male characters, and yes, I have had wammos (why is it always W/Mo, I will never know) come up and try to bone my avatar and/or send me very sexually suggestive tells. It happens, I guess as long as anet makes all female avatars look like supermodels were going to have this problem (wtf, I cant make a fat char, cheet).
The problem with the game is that most teens do not understand that most female avatars in the game are controled by male players. They havent learned to assume 'always male unless'.
This goes for about any game, especially first person shooters. The male audience is much higher than the female one.
